Step into the peaceful beauty of the Via Transilvanica trail, as we hike between two of the most picturesque Saxon villages in southern Transylvania — Biertan and Richiș.
Our journey begins in Biertan, a UNESCO World Heritage village known for its impressive fortified church and well-preserved Saxon architecture. From here, we follow the scenic Via Transilvanica trail, winding across terraced hills, past former vineyards, and through flowery meadows and diverse biodiversity.
As we enter the refreshing forests, there are chances for wildlife watching and quiet moments of connection with nature. Along the way, we pause for views and stories — soaking in the slow Transylvanian rhythm.
In Richiș, we’ll visit the evangelical church, known not only for its Gothic architecture but for its intriguing Green Man carvings. Here, the experience becomes more than a hike; it turns into a journey through symbolism and history.
This is a mindful hike in the Transylvanian Highlands, one where we move with intention, listen to the land, and allow ourselves to be fully present in the heart of Transylvania.
