Transylvania is a paradise for photographers, especially when the day slowly fades into golden light. Over the years, I discovered some beautiful places for sunset photography in Transylvania, where the landscape seems to glow at the end of the day.
I’ve always loved photography. For me, it’s not just a hobby — it’s a form of art and a way to connect deeply with the world around me. I first studied photography 16 years ago, and ever since, I’ve developed a real passion for it. My favorite subject? Landscapes, especially those from my beloved homeland — Transylvania.
I travel a lot, often returning to the same places, and yet they always offer something new: a different light, a hidden corner, a magical shadow, or a fleeting cloud. Whether it’s nature, village life, or architectural details, there’s always something worth capturing.
One of the practices I cherish most is mindful photography — slowing down, walking into the forest or climbing a hill, and observing the scene with quiet attention. I focus on one detail: a tree trunk touched by sunlight, an old wooden gate, or a haystack on a misty morning. The process calms me, brings me presence, and helps me see beauty in the smallest things.

This rural gem is a paradise of rolling hills, old Saxon villages, hay meadows, oak forests, and fortified churches. The light at sunset is golden and soft, perfect for storytelling images.
Must-see villages: Biertan, Copșa Mare, Viscri, Alma Vii, Criș, Mălâncrav, Hosman.

I might be biased, but Sibiu is a dream for photographers. From colorful rooftops to historic towers, there’s beauty around every corner. Winter sunsets paint the city in soft pinks and icy blues.
Top photo spots: The tower of the Evangelical Church, Liar’s Bridge, Belvedere Park, and the Lower Town views.
Best time: June – October
These mountains offer spectacular ridges, alpine lakes, and panoramic views. In summer and autumn, you’ll find wildflowers, marmots, and magical light.
Easily accessible areas: Bâlea Lake on the Transfăgărășan road (Făgăraș) and Păltiniș mountain resort (Cindrel), both close to Sibiu.

Known as a haven for photographers, this region has dreamy sunrises and sunsets over isolated wooden huts and foggy hills. It’s like a painting come to life.
Pro tip: Stay overnight in Dumești and wake up early for a sunrise that will steal your heart.

Just near Brașov and Bran Castle, these villages scattered on mountain ridges offer a timeless rural charm. In winter, snow-covered peaks shine golden at sunset. In spring and fall, the colors are breathtaking.
